Almost ten years ago, Soul Radio Coast2Coast started with a vision.
Back around 2016, my pal Stanley “Jammin” Miller, owner of K-JAM Productions, had an internet radio station that caught my attention. I watched what he was doing and started thinking, Man, can I figure out how to do this LIVE?
My DJ friend Edwin and I hosted a brief morning show, and I also had the opportunity to work with my longtime friend, the late Johnny Morris, at RMC Radio—Roscoe’s Music Center, connected with the famed Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles.
But I was starving for LIVE RADIO.
I wanted to get behind that microphone, talk to the listeners, tell the stories behind the music and play the records that commercial radio was leaving behind.
I kept asking myself:
“Can I figure out how to do this live or what?”
Well, I figured it out.
And almost 10 years later, Soul Radio Coast2Coast is still here!
THREE PARTNERS — ONE LOVE FOR THE MUSIC
Soul Radio Coast2Coast has grown into much more than something I started by myself.
Two men have been beside me for so long that they earned something more important than a title: DJ Krunch and Richard Blackwell are my partners in Soul Radio Coast2Coast.
These brothers put in years of their time, talent and dedication without getting a paycheck. They showed up because they believed in the station and believed in what we were trying to accomplish.
After everything they contributed, I felt it was only right to make them partners.
Today, DJ Kenny D, DJ Krunch and Richard Blackwell share the responsibility of keeping Soul Radio Coast2Coast alive—including splitting the bills that come with operating an independent radio station.
Nobody is sitting back collecting some big corporate radio salary.
We're putting money INTO the station to keep it going.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We play the music we grew up loving: Classic Soul, R&B, Old School, Smooth Jazz, Blues, Funk, Disco and those forgotten album cuts you don't hear much anymore.
But we're not just pushing a button and letting a playlist run.
We're doing LIVE RADIO.
We're talking about the artists. We're remembering the producers, musicians and songwriters. We're celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, honoring the legends we've lost and telling some of the history behind the records.
And sometimes we'll pull something out of the library that makes a listener say:
“Damn! I haven't heard that record in 40 years!”

NEARLY 10 YEARS OF SHOWS AND MEMORIES
Through the years we've brought you live programs including The Sunday Soul Spectacular, Classic Thursday, Grown Folks Happy Hour, Friday Night Live, Old School dance parties, Smooth Jazz, Blues, Motown specials, slow jams, tributes and much more.
DJ Krunch has brought his own sound, personality and programs to our listeners.
Richard Blackwell has spent countless hours behind the microphone bringing his own style and musical knowledge to the station.
And I've spent nearly a decade doing what I originally dreamed about doing:
LIVE RADIO.
Together, we've tried to create something increasingly difficult to find—a place where grown folks can turn on the radio and still hear OUR MUSIC.
NOW WE NEED SOME HELP FROM OUR LISTENERS
Here's the part people don't always see.
Independent internet radio is expensive.
Our Live365 service alone has been costing us more than $500 every month.
Then there are other expenses involved in keeping a station operating—broadcasting equipment, computers, software, website expenses and everything else that goes into keeping Soul Radio Coast2Coast running.
And remember:
DJ Kenny D, DJ Krunch and Richard Blackwell are splitting these bills ourselves.
After almost ten years of putting our time, money and love into this station, we're asking our listeners to help us carry some of that load.
